Global Consulting History

Global Consulting had humble beginnings, with founder Shaw Droker’s desire to work on computers at the age of 10, when he learned how to do computer programming on the home computer owned by a friend’s father. At that time, home computers were pretty rare, to say the least; this one filled an entire room and stored all of its programming code on long, clumsy rolls of paper tape. But once Shaw had learned what he’d come to learn, he was hooked for life, with his first foray into professional computing in 1984, when he took a job as a programmer at Atlas Technology.

Atlas Technology

Atlas was at the time in its infancy, doing custom programming for several businesses. Shaw was one of its first employees. When Atlas started landing several lucrative contracts with Pacific Bell, it began to grow. Shaw moved into technical and customer support, soon managing this growing department as well as the administrative office staff. He was given the opportunity of a lifetime in the industry to learn everything he’d need to one day open his own company.

Once Atlas Technology had grown to over 40 employees, Shaw was ready to move on to work for another small start-up, CAT-Links. Shaw was one of the first three employees of this small company; he was hired initially to conduct phone technical support / help desk for legal industry clients. As this company grew to a national presence, Shaw was promoted to managing a large staff of help desk professionals. He was recognized by clients for his abilities to ensure that their needs were met in a positive and rapid manner.

Global Consulting

By January 1990, Shaw was ready to open his own company, Global Consulting, where he worked from home with no infrastructure outside an answering machine and some fancy letterhead. That didn’t last long. Word spread fast that he’d opened his own company – especially through the local legal industry. Word on the street was that if a company wanted customer-focused support delivered by an ethical professional, Global Consulting was THE PLACE to call.

Global Consulting went through a period of slow growth, owing almost exclusively to word of mouth and referrals from their growing client list, but before long it was time to hire technicians and office staff to keep up with demand and continue to provide high-quality services.

Once Mike Carter was added to the in-house staff, the team of Global technicians began to expand and so did Global Consulting. The company continues acquiring small computer consulting firms to expand its offerings and strength of service.

These development advances allow Global Consulting to stay true to its mission – to provide responsive, responsible customer service to our clients in a way that will instill enough trust that they will want to refer us to their friends and colleagues.

It is this attitude that permeates our team and ensures that Global Consulting will continue to grow and remain strong in the industry.
